Finally, a movie that holds up. Even after 40 years, Alien still looks great. Although I'm sure a better Xenomorph costume could be made today, it still looks great. The baby Xenomorph looks bad and far too cute, but it's a much smaller role, so it doesn't matter as much. There is a significant event in the last half of the film that looks terrible, I don't want to spoil anything, but you'll know it when you see it. The acting was even pretty good. Veronica Cartwright was awful, but Sigourney Weaver and Yaphet Kotto were pretty awesome. Alien certainly drags a bit in some parts (I watched the director's cut, so that may be exclusive to this version), but I was never bored. Alien does a great job with building the world and mythology of the Alien Universe while still leaving tons of questions that we want answers to, but aren't required to be answered to enjoy this film.
