Review:
The best part of The Truman Show is the concept. The acting is fine (although Carrey's performance is too Jim Carrey for the plot, if that makes sense) and the way the cinematography makes it feel like we are watching the titular show is great. The only issue is that The Truman Show escalates way too fast. The movie is about two hours, so there is plenty of time of space it out, but Truman's arc isn't gradual enough; it feels like we are jumping past entire steps. The very idea of a company adopting a child specifically to raise him in an artificial reality is so intriguing that I would have sat through another half hour if the could have slowed the film down. It's still a better fake reality show than Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
