Review:
Friday the 13th Part 2 is a definite improvement over the original, but the bar was set pretty low. The biggest improvement is easily in the acting. The acting isn't great, but it's at least passable for an 80's slasher and no one gets any character development and even though I just finished the movie a few minutes ago, I can't remember anyone's name. The plot is minimal, taking place five year after the first at a counselor training camp near Camp Crystal Lake and, of course, things get bloody. The plot is unimportant, as we really come for the gore and kills and here lies the problem. Part 2 often feels like it's edited for TV because often the camera cuts away before contact is made with the weapon. We see a knife go towards someone, but 2 inches away, the shot changes and we miss everything. When we to actually see the kills, they are underwhelming. Friday the 13th was still finding its feet, so I can excuse some of it, but a slasher needs some slashing. Disappointing.
