Overview: Max and Annie's weekly game night gets kicked up a notch when Max's brother Brooks arranges a murder mystery party -- complete with fake thugs and federal agents. So when Brooks gets kidnapped, it's all supposed to be part of the game. As the competitors set out to solve the case, they start to learn that neither the game nor Brooks are what they seem to be. The friends soon find themselves in over their heads as each twist leads to another unexpected turn over the course of one chaotic night.

I wish the writers had given us more of the games in Game Night. Based on the trailers, I expected the game night element to be much more prevalent. The characters find out that it's no longer a game pretty quick and then it's just Date Night with more characters. The acting was solid (although no one seems to take the danger level seriously) and there is some creative cinematography that I really enjoyed; my only issue is the plot. If you took Date Night and put more of the focus on the action, you'd essentially have Game Night. If they would have stretched the facade into the at least the second act, I'd have enjoyed it a lot more. As it is, it's a a mildly funny action movie. I just want more game night from a movie titled Game Night.
