Overview: One night per year, the government sanctions a 12-hour period in which citizens can commit any crime they wish -- including murder -- without fear of punishment or imprisonment. Leo, a sergeant who lost his son, plans a vigilante mission of revenge during the mayhem. However, instead of a death-dealing avenger, he becomes the unexpected protector of four innocent strangers who desperately need his help if they are to survive the night.

Full Review Page

With the concept that the US government allows one night each year when everyone has the right to murder anyone from sundown to sunrise is a chilling notion that is deployed admirably in this graphic, disturbing film. Our protagonist Sergeant (Frank Grillo) is on a mission to extract revenge on an individual that killed his son who was spared by the system through technicality but finds himself helping a few helpless souls caught in the mercy of the new law. The writing is interesting enough with solid performances by the cast and a few interesting twists in the storyline that works well. If you are in a mood for a violent, action adventure flick with thrilling suspense you can’t go wrong with a movie that delivers the right amount of bang for your buck. Please pass the popcorn and the ammo while you’re at it.
