Not a solid follow up to The Force Awakens but entertaining nonetheless. The soundtrack in itself is great but I had to ding it a few points because some of the well known tunes did not fit well with some of the scenes falling a bit short. Perhaps it's because I wasn't as moved as the original movie or even the last one.

A good solid 8. Not great but good enough!

It was great to see the characters again and listen to the newer soundtrack as well as the old ones! I wonder what will happen to Leia for the next movie now.

I looooove Star Wars but I really thought this could have been written better. I had too many questions on my head after watching this and it's not like the questions a great movie will leave you with. The Force Awakens was much more impactful to me. I'm still going to look forward to the next and hopefully last Star Wars episode. At that point I think the wars should end and should just be small battles with more diversified and meaningful outcomes.

I love this sequel. It is a brand new kind of star wars that I have never seen before.

The Last Jedi is a great movie when it comes to the technical things, but the plot and script are atrocious. Rian Johnson must hate Star Wars or at least its fans. The internal logic is non-existent, the ludicrous amount of stupid, pointless, and time consuming C-Plots is infuriating, and the new characters are awful. Entire side stories can be eliminated and the story wouldn't change at all. Vice Admiral Holdo is the worst character in the history of Star Wars and that includes Jar Jar and Jake Lloyd's Anakin. The acting is as good as it can be, the problem is the writing. Nothing makes sense. "Subverting expectations" doesn't work if you do it for the sake of doing it, and do things just to troll people. If Harry Potter had ended with Voldemort and Harry having a BvS "Martha" moment and teaming up to murder everyone else and move into Durmstrang and live out their lives together as a couple, or if the Harry vs Voldemort fight happened off-screen/off-page and was never discussed other than Ron saying "Hey guys, Harry won" The End, would Deathly Hallows be a masterpiece of cinema? I'm trying not to spoil The Last Jedi for those who haven't seen it, but Rian is on record saying that he wanted to make a film that half of the viewers loved and half thought was the worst thing they had ever seen. The Last Jedi is not the worst movie ever, or even of 2017. The Last Jedi is visually beautiful, the acting was fine and believable, and it is watchable. All of the problems with The Last Jedi fall squarely on Rian Johnson's offensively bad script and his insistence of throwing away four decades of lore just to do completely unexpected things that are so unexpected because they are unfathomably stupid. If you have been putting of The Last Jedi, I'd recommend skipping it and just waiting another year for Episode 9, where J.J. Abrams will hopefully right the ship (although they gave him a co-writer who wrote the Justice League movie, which is way, way worse than even the worst scenes in The Last Jedi). The Last Jedi is not a Star Wars film, it's a Junior High slap-stick comedy that is inspired by the idea of Star Wars and contains characters that have the same name and appearance as Star Wars characters.

Not perfect, but well done.
